Plant Project

Plant Children’s book Young children love to learn new things. Learning about plants is not always fun. Your job is going to be to make a creative, fun, educational children’s book about a certain plant. You have to write the story as if the plant is telling the story about itself.

Here is what you are going to do: Make a children’s book that would teach a young child the following information about your assigned plant.

The book needs to have the following information: Name of the plant Scientific name of the Plant

Vascular or Nonvascular If Vascular, seedless or seeded

If seeded vascular, Angiosperm or Gymnosperm?
If it is an angiosperm, is it a monocot or dicot?
If it is a gymnosperm, what group does it belong to?

Where the plant is found (State or Country?

What climate it likes the best?

Average size of the plant?

What animals eat it or live in it?

What uses do humans have for this plant?

Is it found in abundance, or is it rare, endangered or extinct?

What traits would this plant need to develop in order for it to survive in Rochester, NY?

Be creative!! You want kids to want to pick up your book, learn about and love the plant that you are describing. Create your own artwork, whether it is pictures from magazines or pictures that you draw!

Please hand in a works cited in MLA format. You need to have at least 2 sources. This assignment is due Tuesday, March 26th.
